Growing up, magazines such as Life, Look and National Geographic, had a big impact on me. I was fascinated by all the colors, shapes, the different things and places. In my early teens my Dad gave me my first camera, an Argus 35mm. I took that camera everywhere I went, documenting the travels and antics of my friends and myself.
The landscapes slideshow is a mix of photos of the North Shore of Massachusetts. Several photos of Otis Reservoir, in the Berkshires. Otis has been a fishing destination for myself and a few close friends from our Art School days.
The Icescapes slideshow contains a collection of some of my favorite photos. I particularly like the winter for its stark beauty and subtle tones. Several years ago while hiking in the winter, I noticed how interesting the icy puddles were. Frozen bubbles, sticks, leaves and blue sky reflected in the frozen ripples. And then there are the faces. I started seeing faces in everything, the puddles, snow and the trees.
In the Photo Illustration slideshow, some of the fun I have with images is evident. The knot holes and broken limbs could by an eye socket or mouth. The antique car is a photo I took in Savannah, GA while visiting my son Michael while he was attending SCAD. I then combined it with the photo of Kettle Cove in Manchester by the Sea, one of my landscape photos.
